24 year old Tom Baird has been writing and gigging for nearly half his life now. Growing up zig-zagging between London and the South Coast, he began performing as a young teenager busking on street corners of nearby towns. Developing his sound and writing through an early love of classic soul and folk from the likes of Marvin Gaye, he honed his stage-craft through countless live performances, from pop up acoustic stages to sold out bills at some of the best small venues in the capital.

Entering the chaos of the end of the teen years and the turn of the 20s, it was a discovery of the singer-songwriter and folk heritage of Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, and Townes Van Zandt, that immediately resonated, turning songwriting into a cathartic experience. While this heritage lies at Tom’s core, there are also hints of psychedelia, of slowcore and noise rock, of experimental heroes Arthur Russell, Scott Walker, The Durutti Column.

Now Tom sits on an ever shifting catalogue of his songs eager to be listened to, where all of these experiences converge with a natural ear for characteristic melodies, his distinctive voice, and his guitar style recalling the likes of Joni and John Martyn, while uniquely his own. Penned around his trusted instrument and a notebook, Tom’s songs present a unique confidence, and a confessional, both intimate and relatable character, tackling themes ranging from anxiety and disconnect in relationships, to deepest comfort and gratitude to dearest friends.
